The Turtle and The Rabbit (Ang Pagong at Ang Kuneho)
cutiemona was not overly impressed by the story "The Turtle and the Hare." She wanted them to be friends...
Once upon a time there was a turtle named Turtly and a rabbit named Hoppy. One day, Hoppy read a newspaper that said “Big Race tomorrow from 9:30 am to 10:00 am from the Community Garden to the Town Square. Register now!”
Noong unang panahon may isang pagong nagngangalang Turtly at may isang kunehong nagngangalang Hoppy. Isang araw, may nabasang dyaryo si Hoppy na nagsasabing “Malaking Paligsahan sa Pagtakbo bukas mula 9:30 n.u. hanggang 10:00 n.u. simula sa Community Garden hanggang sa Town Square. Magpalista ngayon din!”
Hoppy was so excited! She hopped to her friend Turtly’s house.
Nagalak si Hoppy! Lumukso siya patungo sa bahay ng kaibigan niyang si Turtly.
Turtly practiced jumping for 10 miles and Hoppy swam 6 miles.
Nag-ensayo sa pagtalon si Turtly ng 10 milya habang si Hoppy naman ay lumangoy ng 6 na milya.
The next day, the race was on! Princess Red Violet Rosie and Queen Yellow Daffodil were talking on the microphone. “On your marks, get set, go!” they said.
Kinabukasan, nagsimula na ang paligsahan! Nagsasalita sa mikropono sina Princesa Red Violet Rosie at Reyna Yellow Daffodil. Sinabi nilang “On your marks, get set, takbo!”
The racers ran very fast. “Hoppy and Turtly take the lead and the other racers are close behind and whoops! There’s a log jump! Great super jump, Hoppy! Oh, Turtly’s catching up!” said Queen Yellow Daffodil.
Tumakbo nang mabilis ang mga mananakbo. “Nanguguna sina Hoppy at Turtly at ang ibang mga mananakbo ay kalapit lamang at oops! May isang trosong kailangang luksuhin! Napaka-galing na talon, Hoppy! Humahabol si Turtly!” sabi ni Queen Yellow Daffodil.
Turtly and Hoppy tried their very best. Then the racers had to swim across a river. It was very hard. They had to swim 15 miles! Turtly and Hoppy never gave up. Some of the other racers did not practice, though, and only 2 other racers were able to follow Turtly and Hoppy.
Sinubukan ni Turtly at Hoppy ang kanilang pinaka-magaling. Sumonod, ang mga mananakbo ay kailangang lumangoy sa kabila ng isang ilog. Masyado itong mahirap. Kinailangan nilang lumangoy ng 15 milya! Sina Turtly at Hoppy ay hindi kailanman sumuko. Ang ibang mga mananakbo ay hindi nag-ensayo, bagaman, at dadalawa lamang na ibang mananakbo ang nakasunod kina Turtly at Hoppy.
Finally, the 4 racers reached the Town Square. Who were the first ones there? Hoppy and Turtly, of course! Everyone cheered. “And the winners are…Hoppy in 2nd place and Turtly in 1st place!!! Congratulations!!!” Queen Yellow Daffodil announced. Sa wakas, ang 4 na mananakbo ay nakaabot sa Town Square. Sino ang mga nauna doon? Sina Hoppy at Turtly, siempre! Ang lahat ay nagpalakpakan. “At ang mga nagwagi ay… si Hoppy pangalawang nagwagi at si Turtly unang nagwagi!!! Kongrats!!!” Ipinahayag ni Reyna Yellow Daffodil.
The two friends were very happy. Masayang-masaya ang dalawang magkaibigan.
